Let me tell you this-- rdrama.net is one of the most malevolent, cruel, coldhearted online communities you'll ever find, and even as a supporter of free speech it appalls me that the internet would allow such a vile, festering hub of bigotry and sadism to exist. You think [slur]town was bad? That website, if you pick up on the dog-whistles (and many don't even bother with that-- say want you want about Stormfront, at least it bans "n[slur]"), will reveal itself to you as the internet's number one hub for the web's most hardened Nazis, Klansmen, Fascists, and Gamergaters. You'll notice on the description that it encourages members to be as dramatic as possible. That's intentional. They encourage arguments in the comments section. That's intentional. You know the Three Minute Hate (it's from this underrated book 1985, give it a read, it's scary how much it parallels our society)? It's like that, they want to stoke the flames of reactionary rage so they continue to dogpile every progressive and minority who enters the website, normalizing these evil feelings. They brigade from website to website, having an entire cabal of admins spanning hundreds of communities, gaslighting lived experiences of the oppressed and unashamedly bolstering the internet's white supremacy movement. They've kink-shamed hundreds of people too, some even... to death. I fear that rdrama.net may be producing an entire army of Dylann Roofs and Elliot Rogers, and I highly suggest that nobody dares visit that horrible website, lest you potentially fall victim to its corruptive aura.

Before rDrama.net there was r/Drama - a subreddit on Reddit that was for many years the "bad" subreddit where you could shit talk other people on Reddit and organize general "chaos" on the site (as much as the Reddit admins would allow). The sole purpose of this community to this day is to manufacture or perpetuate drama by "blowing everything out of proportion."

As Reddit's rules became increasingly restrictive the r/Drama subreddit was forced to turn off the ability to comment anything other than emojis and it currently sits as the inactive last remaining meta internet culture specific subreddit the Reddit admins have not banned from the site.

From the ashes of Reddit's "too many rules" came rDrama.net (started in July 2021)- a popup afterthought of a website founded by a group of people obsessed with pretending to have autism, loving boi pussy (obsessively referred to as "bussy"), and hating white people. On the face of everything rDrama.net is a link aggregator, much like their home-site Reddit, but with the fall of every other Reddit spin-off such as Voat.com, Ruqqus.com, and Saidit.com, rDrama.net has become the home of every major community that Reddit has rid itself of in the last two years. The various - often clashing - communities cohabitating in one place has created the mish-mash hot mess that is rDrama. The chaotic/adversarial community on the site only has one thing in common - they really like to stoke anger. The communal love of anger is what lead to the thing rDrama is known for today - fabricating outrage and baiting the media into reporting nonsensical bullshit.

Texas Abortion Bounty Hunters

Aug 2021 r/TXBountyHunters appears on Reddit as a forum for people to organize reporting of women that may have had an abortion in the state of Texas after they criminalized abortion. Thousands of people, such as New York Times bestselling author Steve Silberman (author of a book on autism lol), were outraged by the news of the subreddit’s existence (Archive). The news spread around reddit like wildfire, drawing tens of thousands of upvotes across multiple subreddits (Archive) (Archive) (Archive). Soon after the outrage began it was banned and news of the banning was reported in Vice and Business Insider. (Archive) (Archive)

The creators of the subreddit were not alt-right anti-abortion activists as first thought, however, it was just rDrama.net trying to bait outrage (Archive), which the MSM was more than happy to provide.

r/TransParentTransKid / r/Transpets

After TXBountyHunters, rDrama started a handful of trans oriented subreddits such as /r/transparenttranskid and /r/transpets, devoted to pretending to be trans people “helping” their kids and their pets transition, often against their will. For each subreddit, they lay out the whole plan on their site (Archive), where “the whole plan” is often “hey this sounds funny, anyone wanna join in?(Archive). Here, too, screenshots and condemnations spread across social media, this time drawing fury from right-wing and gender-critical spaces. Twitter’s @OrwellNGoode drew some ten thousand likes for posting a screenshot (Archive) of a user claiming they were crushing estriadol pills and putting it in the cereal of their 14-year-old to force transition. The .win sites (Archive) and /pol/ took their turns biting at the bait, as did reddit’s /r/Cringetopia. (Archive)

r/FriendsofBrian

Sept 2021 - with the Gabby Petito missing person case in the international media, a subreddit r/FriendsofBrian appeared on Reddit and acted as a pro-Brian Landrie forum for those that felt he was a victim of Gabby Petito and not the other way around. Many posts speculated that Brian was murdered by Gabby, or that Brian should be made a poster child for female-on-male domestic violence. Outrage over the subreddit spread quickly, with news stories appearing in the Daily Beast, Yahoo, Independent.UK (Archive) (Archive) (Archive)

As with the other bait subreddits discussed in this thread, the subreddit was another organized outrage-baiting scheme from rDrama. (Archive) While the subreddit was very quickly called out as trolling Poe-bait, the community members celebrated every media mention as a win.

The Reddit Powermod Strike Leaks

During the rise of popularity of covid-conspiracy discorse a subreddit called r/NoNewNormal began flourishing, and this subreddit would become the internet's largest anti-covid / anti-mask / anti-vaxx forum for a period of time. The existence of this subreddit was met with much ire from the rest of Reddit and with their messages spreading further across the site a group of the highest positioned moderators (aka 'powermods') on the site decided to band together to force the admins to get rid of them. Hoping to do what is called a "blackout" (closing the largest forums on the site in protest) the powermods spent multiple weeks convincing the largest forums to join the surprise attack against the admins, but ultimately one of their own defected to rDrama.net and they leaked the whole thing the day before the protest. (Archive)

The leaks continued like an open sieve and not content with merely leaking the plans to their own site, the users of rDrama began releasing leak after leak across several posts that were then smeared all across Reddit:

Hi Merari (Archive)
Update - It's getting really good (Archive)
J-Slur-In-Chief has JUST NOW reached peak mald (Archive)
Hot Goss Get Yer Hot Goss (Archive)
Janniecord is currently melting down (Archive)
Moderator belleariel has breakdown (Archive)
Janniecord is in full civil war (Archive)

The drama in general was also a featured happening here on Kiwifarms.

In the end the leaks, and subsequent onslaught of astroturfing of said leaks resulted in multiple Reddit moderator breakdowns, in-fighting, multiple moderators leaving, and the entire protest in general falling apart for a period of time.
It should be noted that the protest did eventually end up happening, and Reddit did eventually capitulate.

The "Community"

cigaretteburnschizo.jpg
As mentioned prior in the thread, the community on the website is a mish-mash of different communities that have been kicked off of Reddit proper, and this mish mash has settled into a staunchly politically divided community that is constantly at war with itself - with much of their drama coming from "inside the house." "Leftoid-vs-Rightoid" battles are constant and they have even integrated systems into the website to "torture" those that they feel are being too politically one-sided. The community has various accoutrements such as:

Public Lynchings - in these threads the community can submit people they hate on the site and if their submission is voted on enough that person is banned from the site forever. Examples can be found here and here. (Archive) (Archive)

Agendaposter Theme - the most reviled aspect of the site. If a person is too "rightoid" they are given this theme that makes the entire website rainbow colored and every comment they post must contain "trans lives matter" or it's automatically removed by a robot. An entire site culture has emerged within the userbase on how to avoid being given this theme. (Archive)

Bussy - Carried over from r/Drama on Reddit, rDrama.net is obsessed with the word "bussy" (also "DUDE BUSSY LMAO"). The site is littered with various memes about bussy and submitting a photo of your asshole is used as a means to atone for any sins committed on the website.

I'll spare you the photos of actual assholes.

Marsey - rDrama.net is obsessed with Marsey the cat from the Telegram sticker collection. There's really no rhyme or reason that I can dig up but users have submitted hundreds of variations and Marsey has 45000+ mentions on the site in the few short months it has been around.

Awards - The site has various awards allowing users to do specific things like pin their posts to the top of the site for a day, or ban other users for a day. The most notable award, however, is the Touch Grass award (Archive) that when granted to someone bans them permanently from the site unless they submit a timestamped photo of their hand literally touching grass to the site admins.

"Bardposting" - Bardposting is disparagingly used to refer to people that post obsessively about an internet user named Bardfinn. Bardfinn is an infamous moderator on Reddit that helms the subreddit r/Againsthatesubreddits, which has a reputation for having the ears of the admins of Reddit and getting "bad" subreddits/communities banned. Mere username mention of Bardfinn often leads to your account being banned from Reddit, so rDrama.net has become the premiere home for their "fan club." Bardfinn is also the subject of their own Kiwifarms thread which can be found here.

Rules

rools.PNG

rDrama.net bills itself as an "anything goes except illegal stuff" community much like Kiwifarms, but being as that the site is ran by Redditors, and ex-Redditors, the reality does not match the stated expectation. Many things are removed for little to no reason other than someone "doesn't like it," and/or it seems scary to their Reddit-oriented sensibilities. Any complaining about removals is met with the statement "We do what we want. Get over it."

rDrama.net on Reddit

It should surprise no one that the rDrama.net domain is banned from Reddit.
bannedlol.png

The Reddit admins felt that the moderators of r/Drama were using the website to circumvent the "no linking to other subreddits on Reddit" rule that the admins had imposed on the subreddit, and while that is absolutely true, the moderators did not take the news well, and that is what lead to the shuttering of the subreddit as a whole. (Archive)

Other domains they use that the Reddit admins have banned since originally banning rDrama.net:
rDrama.ga
TayTay.life
Spez.gay
Dogpill.life

They used to actually do a lot of good on reddit. like when they outed a significant portion of the regulars on r/teenagers as pedophiles in their 30s and 40s.

According to the mods there almost all of their current mod mails are just mentions of that post on a daily basis.

You definitely need more examples of things they've done (the two that are here already are great), and maybe some information on specific admins/mods/users - any site that willingly uses the word "bussy" is bound to be filled with autists. Looking forward to seeing more, good start!

Thank you! I got kind of tired and hoped this was enough to get it moved to community watch but I can def add some more shenanigans and community dressings tomorrow.

Centering is fine for headers and perhaps images, but don't center entire sentences or your entire post - it makes the text much more difficult to read. For picky assholes like me, it's entirely unreadable.

/r/drama was always a poor man's Kiwi Farms anyway, so having it be a separate website makes it even more pointless
Having a buffer between reddit and Kiwi Farms will always be good thing.

Off hand they're responsible for r/friendsofbrian, the pro- Brian Laundrie subreddit which also produced a lot of reactions on reddit and had Yahoo! and The Daily Beast write articles about it in outrage.
